First school visit

Hi all

Another jam packed day in Seoul! Today we made our first visit to a school; Bosung Girls' Middle School. This is a missionary school founded in North Korea, which fled down to Seoul around the time of the civil war. 12 students from the school were selected to join us for the day to practice their English and to make us welcome! Each student bought a gift for their British partners, including fans (very useful in the heat!) and traditional masks. They gave us a tour of their school which is completely different to Nottinghan Girls' Academy, especially as the students are allowed to walk into the staff room to talk to their teachers!

We had lunch with the students at school then headed off to the Seoul Tower. This tower sits well above the rest of the city and was built in 1969. It is 237.6 metres tall! We took a cable car up to the top of the hill then we went up to the top of the tower in the 'world's fastest lift' that takes you up 27 floors in 20 seconds! The views were spectacular at the top with a panoramic view of Seoul!

There was even a big sweet shop at the top!

The students got on really well and have exchanged email addresses to stay in touch!

We then went to the Namdaenum market which was a rather busy place! The students loved haggling for souvenirs and  all bought more face masks to beautify themselves with! South Korea is famous for its high quality beauty products which are far cheaper than back home. You can buy face masks with snail extract!

Dinner was fantastic tonight. We went to a Japanese grill restaurant where we had to cool our own steak and eat with noodles. It was delicious!

We're all exhausted and in need to plenty of sleep to start again tomorrow with a visit to one of the 6 palaces!
