Chandeokbokgung palace

Another great day in Seoul. Considering it is currently monsoon season here, we have only had a few minutes of drizzle!

Firstly we went to Insedong to try our hand at haggling for souvenirs. Here are Gaja and Nicole deciding which wall hanging to buy.

We then visited the chandeokbokgung palace in the north of the city which was inhabited by royalty until the last princess died in 1969. It was well known to be the most beautiful of the 6 palaces in the city and therefore the royal family spent most of their time there. The photos do little justice to the beauty of the palace buildings which are all built with wood and painted brightly.

Not what you expect to stumble across in South Korea! This man is currently travelling all over the world in an attempt to bagpipe in as many countries as possible!

We went to the statue and museum of King Sejong, a monarch from the 15th century who is revered in Korea for making many changes including overseeing the creation of Hangul, the Korean writing system.

Embarrassing photos - had to be done!
